About the book

🎯 Target audience

• Anyone learning French as a foreign language and interested in reading short stories in French. The texts are accessible from 🌐 CEFR levels A2/B1.
• Pupils and students preparing for their GCSE French exams or equivalent. The themes developed in this book cover the 🌐 AQA specification #8652 (both for the foundation and the higher tiers).

🎒 Prerequisites

Readers are expected to:

• have at least completed an A1 level course in French. Although the grammar guide explains all the rules from the ground up, the pace and the level of detail are not suitable for complete beginners.
• have a basic understanding of common grammar terminology. For example, readers should already be familiar with concepts such as parts of speech, grammatical functions (subject, verbal unit, direct/indirect object, adverbial, etc.), subordinate clauses, etc.

🎓 Learning outcomes

By the end of the book, readers will:

• have covered a significant proportion of the grammar and vocabulary set out in the AQA GCSE French specification,
• be able to reuse the structures introduced in the texts to nourish their expression,
• feel fully equipped to tackle challenging concepts, such as tenses, personal pronouns, reflexive verbs, and words with multiple meanings.
• be ready to pursue an A-level French course once their GCSEs are completed.
